Meet Holly

Hello there. I’m so glad you’re here....

Holly Scalmanini, L.Ac Medical Intuitive readerI’m Holly, a certified medical intuitive and licensed acupuncturist with a master’s degree in Chinese medicine and 30 years of experience in the healing arts. I would love to get to know you, spend time with you, and help you along on your healing journey. Most people are drawn to having a session with me when they are feeling stuck or lost in health and in life. In a session with me, you’ll get lots of good information, clarity, insight, and direction allowing you to feel you can move forward toward health and wholeness.

On a personal note, I also have chronic disease. I am a Fire constitutional type. Anxiety, insomnia, adrenal fatigue, digestive issues, gallbladder issues, menstrual issues, and dizziness/vertigo have been with me most of my adult life. I have learned to work with and manage these diseases on each of the four levels: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. I have come to see these diseases as gifts in my life. Although there has been a lot of discomfort and challenges with these diseases, they have given me greater self-awareness and wisdom. For example, adrenal fatigue has shown me my habitual patterns of people pleasing and trying to make others happy. And gallbladder issues have shown me my habitual patterns of low self-assuredness and internalized anger.

I grew up with a mom who taught yoga and meditation. I learned to meditate at a young age and was inducted in the American Meditation Society at the age of 5. Reflexologyhomeopathy, healthy food, and herbal supplements were a part of my everyday life as a child. My mom supported and encouraged my intuitive abilities at a young age because she has such a strong intuition herself. She has a journal entry from when I was four years old which says, “she seems to intuitively know what I’m thinking many times and says ‘she hears it in her mind’.”

Looking back on my career in the healing arts, which began in 1994, I can see that I always tended to draw in people whose physical issues were caused by mental, emotional, and spiritual imbalance. As a massage therapist, my clients tended to remember deep things from childhood or be able to release emotions stored in an area of physical tissue I worked on. Similarly, as a yoga teacher, I had a handful of yoga students who remembered repressed childhood trauma by opening and expanding their physical body in yoga poses.

I began practicing as a licensed acupuncturist in 2008 and this is really where I began to see how much our mind and emotions play a part in our physical health and disease. With the knowledge and understanding of the Five Elements of Chinese medicine, I was able to connect the dots between what happens in the mind and what happens in the body. I would often intuitively “see” the mental and emotional root of disease in my acupuncture patients, but I didn’t always feel that it was appropriate to share what I was picking up. My acupuncture patient wasn’t always prepared to hear deep and stirring insights into themselves. Many wanted to just relax on the table during their treatment, understandably so.

So in 2017, I left my beloved acupuncture practice to do intuitive readings where my clients were prepared for deeper insights and revelations. In my years as an intuitive consultant, I honed my understanding of each level of our being: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. And I have created a treatment plan for disease caused by mental and emotional imbalance which is what I offer in Five Element Sessions.

A common question I am asked, is “how do I know if my physical issues are coming from mental and emotional imbalance?”

The common ground amongst those whose diseases are rooted in mental and emotional imbalance are these:

  1. Your disease is difficult to diagnose, complex, and doesn’t seem to respond well to routine treatment.
  2. You are doing everything right like eating the right foods, avoiding the wrong foods, taking medicine, herbs, supplements, exercising, yoga, meditation, etc and yet symptoms still persist.
  3. You have an inner knowing or gut feeling that your physical symptoms are a manifestation of your mind and emotions.

In Chinese medicine, there is a saying about healing that goes ‘the best progress is slow steady progress’. I hope to give you the tools to navigate your healing journey in a stable and supportive way. My opinion is that our mind and emotions play a much bigger part in our physical body than our current medical culture recognizes. By examining health on each of the four levels: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual, we have a greater understanding of ourselves and a greater chance of true healing and returning to a feeling of wholeness or original nature, as the Taoists call it.

I live in the Denver, Colorado area with my cherished, dear, wonderful husband Joe and our doggies Ciro and Fergus.

I hope to get the chance to get to know you sometime. Below is a whole bunch of stuff so that you can get to know me!
